the due date is finally here!
it was very surreal scheduling a birth. this was my 2nd c-section and it was just both strange and cool to know the who, what, when and where you were going to give birth. we weren't scheduled until the late-afternoon that day so we just enjoyed the morning with great anticipation! (this including enjoying the no labor pains which was absolutely amazing!) i was very nervous because i knew what to expect as far as the recovery, but also knew there was a prize at the end- our daughter.

getting prepared at the hospital!
baby sister gave hayden a present because she was so excited to have him as her big brother!
walking to the operating room was like walking to death row! i was terrified of "the big needle" but knew i'd be okay once that was over. after the spinal, the rest was a breeze!
my hottie hubby in his scrubs!
ricky totally can handle anything and was watching/videotaping/taking pictures/and trying to comfort me during the surgery! it was cute because he totally let out a cute scream when he saw her head pop out, which made everyone in the o.r. jump, then everyone started laughing. the dr showed her to me over the curtain as soon as she came out and it was love at first sight.

cutting the umbilical cord!
touching her for the first time
she's here and we're in love!
proud daddy!
proud mommy!
and of course...curious brother!
giving daddy kisses!
and finally a proud brother!
yeah!
it was interesting to watch hayden interact with his new baby sister, we weren't sure what to expect. he totally would be excited, want to hold her and kiss her and then moments later would say, "i want her to go back into mommy's belly!" my mom said that night he went home, he wrapped his mr. potato head in a blanket- we knew everything would be ok!
each day at the hospital, hayden got a present from baby sister! ricky surprised me with hayden coming to the hosital dressed in his "dr. hayden" big brother scrubs! it was so cute!

{ bumps and bumpers }

we are so happy with the way the nursery turned out! decorating a little girl's room is a dream come true! i am obsessed with little birdies and owls right now and thought that would be a fun theme. we found the cutest bedding from pottery barn kids that just came out (thanks mom and dad!) and designed the room around it with a tree wall vinyl and fun accessories. we hope it's a place holland will love and spark her imagination!

i was already freaking out about how to arrange the endless amounts of hair bows, clips and flowers so ricky and i came up with this idea together and made it! we just took a frame, chicken wire and moss and made this adorable organized frame that keeps some accessories organized.

ricky and hayden planted pink flowers out front to welcome baby sister!

perfectly pink!
we are all ready for our new arrival!

{ maternity memories }

our little princess is here!
we are so excited and love her so much already. we will post pictures as soon as our computer finds space to upload the thousands of images we have already taken! in the meantime, we just got our maternity pictures back from the wonderful heidi robbins! (who also did our wedding pictures and totally recommend her!) a week before our due date, we thought it would be memorable to document this special, sacred time and capture our little family of 3.

"mommy, when is baby sister coming?"
